Fixed prosthesis

When teeth are damaged, it is necessary to restore their correct shape or prevent them from breaking with appropriate devices called crowns (the tooth is reduced and covered with a capsule that makes it aesthetically similar to a natural tooth). Currently, there is a tendency to be minimally invasive using adhesive materials that allow the tooth structure to be preserved. The prosthesis can be used to replace missing teeth (bridges) when dental implants are not indicated. It is also used to improve the aesthetics of the teeth (veneers). With prosthetic procedures, the teeth are placed on implants inserted into the bone.

Removable prosthesis

Removable prostheses are increasingly less used in favor of fixed prostheses on implants. In certain situations, they may be indicated and can be removed by the patient (total or partial removable prostheses).

The patient wanted to have a better smile. The right central incisor is devitalized and dark and has an old crown on the left lateral incisor. A new crown was made on the left lateral incisor and a crown on the right central incisor by treating the soft tissues correctly in order to restore the correct shape of the teeth. The old fillings were redone on the other incisors without altering them.

The patient smiles happily again.

The patient had difficulty smiling due to the asymmetry of the incisors and chewing due to worn teeth.

It was decided to redo the front bridge by modifying the position of the gums without resorting to surgery but working with temporary ones. Implants were inserted posteriorly to avoid a removable prosthesis. Lowerly, the removable prosthesis was redone by inserting an implant on the left to keep it in place and keeping the patient’s tooth on the right.
